Sunday Stamps Challenge #292

Happy Sunday!  It's time for another sketch challenge at Sunday Stamps and, of course, I had to incorporate some fall colors in my card.  Again.  And also a gnome.  Again.  😁 What can I say, I love fall and gnomes so I expect most of my cards for the next few months to include both of those!

I have a stack of these gnomes that I've been working on coloring in my free time for another project.  I hadn't planned on using them for a card but plans are always changing in my craft room! I needed a card to send to my best friend and I couldn't find the perfect one in my card stash.  So I looked through other projects and decided on using one of the gnomes I'd already colored.  The sketch for this challenge worked well with the card I had in mind!

I colored my gnome with Prismacolor pencils and added a little Wink of Stella for some sparkle on the green leaves, stems and grass.  I finished it up with a simple Happy Birthday sentiment and a few fall colored rhinestones.

I hope you'll join us for this sketch challenge at Sunday Stamps!  All of the details and design team inspiration can be found on the blog.

Sunday Stamps #291

Happy Sunday!  We have a new challenge starting today at Sunday Stamps and I absolutely love the color palette for this challenge.  It is full of stunning fall colors and makes me think of pumpkin patches and changing leaves.

I decided to use the yellow, orange and red colors in the palette to make an ink blended background.  Have you ever had an ink pad that leaked?  It is the worst!  I had a huge mess all over my hands and desk.  I think I may have ink stained hands for the next week 😃 I used a matching green card stock for the card base and finished it off with little twine and orange jewels.

I'd love it if you'd join us for this challenge at Sunday Stamps.  All of the challenge details and design team inspiration can be found on the blog.

Once Upon a Time Challenge #2

Have you heard about the new challenge blog at Once Upon a Time Challenge?  Since I LOVE children's books so, so SO much, this challenge is right up my alley.   Every month there will be new card challenge based on the cover of a children's book.  You can design your project based on however the cover inspires you.  It could be the color scheme, the layout, or the story theme.  The choice is yours!  Brilliant idea, right? Just make sure you describe how you were inspired in your blog post.  Other challenge details can be found on their blog at Once Upon a Time Challenge.

This is the 2nd month of the challenge and the book is Charlotte's Web by E.B. White.  I'm really excited to be guesting designing for this month!  I LOVE this book.  And the movie.  And the other movie.  I love them all.  I must have read the book a dozen times in my life and watched the cartoon much more than that.  For my card, I knew it had to have a little Wilbur.  I colored him with pencils and paired him with some red card stock and wood themed patterned paper to represent the barn.  The ray die cut behind the card isn't exactly a spider web but it is as close as I had to anything spider related.  Apparently, I'm not much of a spider fan since I had nothing in my stash 😁. The saying Chin Up is, of course, from the first time Wilbur meets Charlotte in the movie and she gives him some musical advice about being happy and positive.  And who doesn't need a little extra positivity in their lives?

I hope you'll check out the blog and join in on some challenges!  I know I'll be joining whenever I can.

Paper Dragonfly Challenge #9

Happy September!  September is a month of school sports in our family.  In addition to both of my boys playing soccer, I also have a golfer.  I think it will be fun to learn a little about golfing because I know nothing! But I am going to be running around like crazy and I expect that this month is going to fly by in a cloud of chaos.  I think it was a funny coincidence that the theme for this month's challenge at Paper Dragonfly Creative Challenges is "Time Flies" 😃
The sponsor for the challenge this month is Pattie's Creations.  I picked this adorable dragonfly image but I wasn't exactly sure how to tie it into the theme "Time Flies".  It was a challenge but I came up with the idea of a spinner card.  I'm not great at photographing spinner cards but the idea is that when you open the card, the clock spins around, which is as close to time flying as I could think of.

I colored the image with colored pencils and added a little inking in the background.  I used a dry brush for the blue ink, just to add a little texture, and a regular blending brush for the purple ink.  Of course, I had to add Wink of Stella to the dragonfly wings.  The sparkle doesn't show in the picture but is very shiny in real life.
This is a short video showing the card spinning.  If I make another one of these, I'd definitely make the circle bigger so that more of the colored image showed through.

Please stop by and join the challenge at Paper Dragonfly Creative Challenges!  You can find all of the details and design team inspiration on the blog.

If you are looking for additional card challenges, there are a few really fun challenges starting soon!  One is all about cats and the other is everything Christmas and Halloween.  Both challenges are still having a Design Team call so check out the blogs for more information!
